What is wrong with my phone?
When I left my country and would start live in Murcia, there was one my mom advice she gave to me. It was to keep in touch and try to reply to her message as soon as possible. Thus, on the third day of my living in Murcia, I went to one of the department stores that sell some phone cards from different companies.
Everything was run very well until I stopped to recharge my phone. I did that because I thought mobile data was no longer necessary for me, because I mostly use wifi, either in public, campus, and my apartment. Then, a week ago, I came again to the store to recharge my card because the day I would go to Italy was coming closer. Clearly, I would need the data to keep in contact with my family when I travel around out of Spain. The first disaster came at that time.
I only purchased for five euros, but when I activated the mobile data, it wouldn't work. The network appeared and disappeared like in the blink of the eye. There was a moment where it finally worked, but five minutes later it wouldn't work again. At first, I guess that the problem was with the card. So, I decided to change the card again with another one that I bought near my campus.
I paid for 15 euros with the benefit of 20 minutes free call and 10 GB of internet data. The lady in the store told me, once I inserted the card in my phone, I needed to dial 121 to activate the card. As soon as I inserted the new card, I activated my phone. I waited for five minutes, but there was no network detected. I thought it happened because I did not activate the mobile data yet and I started to dial the number she had instructed to me.
However, there was no sign that it worked. I tried to call my friend with the card, it failed. The, I talked to her. She took out my card and inserted it to her phone. Surprisingly, it worked. My friend, who has the same phone brand like me, also could see that her phone worked. I shocked for real. I did not understand why only my phone that would not work. From 15 euros that I had been purchased, she gave me back five euros and said sorry because she could not help.
After barely found a solution in that store, we decided to go out. I wanted to go to Samsung Center in Murcia, but my friend there was no any Samsung stores in this city. I also did not want to buy a new phone just because of this problem. Moreover, my phone still new. I convinced myself that perhaps the problem was because my phone could not be compatible with the foreign card and it would be okay later if I already go back to my country.
The consequence of the problem, I only could rely on the wifi connection. In Murcia, luckily, most of the places I know have free wifi, include the bus station. Thus, I did not need to worry too much. I hope it will be alright if I already go back to Indonesia and change with the local card I am used to knowing.
