Paula - A Girl Who Loves Chen
Looking back to the first day I met Paula was hilarious and coincidental as well. I was about to come to Mutia after class. She texted me that she sat in front of the Aulario. When I came to her, there was another girl next to her. I did not expect that both Mutia and Paula already knew each other. I knew after she told me that that girl also likes K-Pop the same as me.
I amazed to hear that statement because I could not believe that I could meet a Spanish girl who likes K-Pop. Then, we introduced ourselves to each other. I turned out knowing her in the same major as me, which is English, but she took English Philology. Also, I asked her favourite idol group in K-Pop and her favourite members. She likes EXO, which also my one of my favourites boy group. The moment she mentioned she is an EXO-L, I was so freaking happy and shook her hand. We are in the same fandom and it feels like I have found another non-biological sister. Even though she loves Chen in EXO and I like D.O, but since that short meeting, I knew that we would get along quickly.
After I went home, I texted Mutia and asked for Paula's phone number. I chatted Paula and we started talking about K-Pop. She told me that actually many people in Murcia like Korean music and culture. Here, they even have a regular meeting and several agendas on it. I got double amazed. It is not because I cannot find the same things in my country, but I just did not expect that the K-Pop wave has spread globally.
I wanted to know Paula better, so I invited her to Mutia's apartment. I asked her to come because my friends and I would make famous food from my country, called beef meatball. Just in case that she could not eat that, Hesti and I brought tortilla patata and pizza. When everything was settled, we started to eat. She said the food was good, but it was a little bit spicy. I felt terrible for her because I forget to ask how far she could hold the spicy food. Moreover, we put the pepper a little bit too much. Her face turned red and I told her it was okay to leave the food if she could not handle any more.
At that time, eating meatball was already our last dishes after finish with the other two foods. Paula surprised that Indonesian people ate a lot in within a short time. We laughed. My friend explained to her that it was our habit to eat a lot. Finish with the food, Paula and I sat on the couch. We talked a lot of things. Not only about Korean, but also about her study, family, her dream to travel around the world, and her thought upon several issues that have been raising nowadays. These talks made me triple amazed by this girl. Even though she is a quiet person, but her mind is really broad. I also like the way she keeps up with her passion and dream. She already planned to go to Korea from the money she had saved. Amazing, right? I wish she knows, that everytime I say to her that she is inspiring me, I really mean it.
I do not hang out with her very often. We keep contact only via social media. Both us busy with studying and our schedule often collapse. So far I only met her on campus. For example when I gave her a birthday gift. At that time, we took a picture together and it was our first official photo after our first meeting. Knowing Paula also made me did something that I had never done before. I succeed to purchase my first EXO Album with Paula. I was never done this before. I was glad when she offered me to buy the album with her. I did not think that much and said 'YES' to her.
There is one thing that makes me sad. I am running out of time. I will leave Spain in within a month. I cannot believe that I will say goodbye to Paula. A distance between Indonesia and Spain is only a number. I am sad because my chance to meet her face to face will be decreasing. However, social media will be the saviour. We can still keep in contact, cheering up one another, and talk about our favourite idols. I appreciate the fate that I can meet and be a friend for Paula more than I am thinking about the goodbye itself.
